Bluegrass, Gospel, Cajun, Celtic and More!
The Templeton Family has been performing Bluegrass and Gospel Music together since 2007. The band, from Central Illinois, is comprised of Mike and Lisa Templeton and their six eldest children. Any show produced by the Templeton Family has only two individualities: pure family fun and quality entertainment. The show will involve great music spanning varieties and genres from old time toe tapping songs to hard driving bluegrass tunes, old hits and forgotten favorites to fine quartets and gospel numbers; their music will take you from the woods of ol' Kentucky to the western prairie line; from the Louisiana bayou to the shores of Ireland and beyond! Other various elements exploited in the Templeton Family's show are clean humor, audience interaction and clogging - to boot!
The Templeton Family has performed at many community events, churches, town festivals and bluegrass festivals. They were the 2008 winners of the talent showcase at the Greater Downstate Illinois Bluegrass Festival in Springfield, IL and from there, proceeded to take 1st place at the band competition at the 2009 Southern Illinois Bluegrass and BBQ festival held in Salem, IL. The Templeton Family also participated in the 2010 National KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Contest in Silver Dollar City, Branson,MO. The Templeton Family released their first CD, "That Evening Train," in June 2011. The twelve tracks include two originals, one of which is the title track. Since then the Templeton Family has amassed an amount of original songs and is in the process of preparing to start recording an all original album in 2013.
